Pursuant to the Act on Electoral Procedures, employees and members of the ballot counting committee (hereinafter referred to as "members of the PEC") participating in the conduct of elections are exempted from the statutory work obligation on the day following the day of voting. On that day, they are entitled to an absence allowance, which must be paid by the employer. The employer may apply to the local election office for reimbursement of the absence allowance and contributions payable to the member of the electoral body within five days of the counting of the votes.
The deadline for receipt of the request for reimbursement is Friday 14 June 2024 at 16:00. Applications received after this deadline will be rejected.
The procedure for submitting a request for reimbursement:
- an employee who has worked as a member of the PSC on 09.06.2024 for the elections can prove this to his/her employer by means of a certificate issued by the notary.
- to the employer on receipt of the certificate „Application for a model absence allowance” form, which is available here: Local elections - National Election Office (valasztas.hu).
You then need to submit the completed application form together with the income certificate issued by the employer to the local notary who issued the certificate in advance. - Due to the short deadline, it is recommended to submit the application in person, by sending two copies to the notary. Electronic submission certified by AVDH is sometimes possible, but you should always check with your local notary in advance. It is up to the notary to decide whether or not to accept electronic submissions, so arrangements may vary from area to area.
